The Retreat at Oakmead

Sep 01, 2021

When you visit Oakmead you’ll find a gorgeous, spacious venue where you can completely relax and start to focus on what really matters – you and your wellbeing!

I’ve watched Tony and Adele transform a sad and unloved building into the light, spacious and airy retreat and guest accommodation you see today. To smooth the process and to draw in the bright, sparkling energy which is a feature of Oakmead, they invited me to implement Interiors Therapy to enhance the good vibes.

Interiors Therapy came to prominence when Jennifer Anniston used an Interiors Therapist for her home after the end of her marriage.

This is a five step process to upgrade the energy of a property and boost the positivity in the lives of the people who live there. By clearing away feelings of stagnation and identifying aspects which prevent the occupants from achieving the success they deserve, people who use Interiors Therapy change their thinking and life experience for the better.

One of the five elements of Interiors Therapy involves the use of Feng Shui.

Feng Shui is a 5000 year old practice which originated in China and east Asia and supports a home and the people who live in it. There are two primary ways to use the practice – ‘Western’, which is defined by the position of the front door, and ‘Compass’ –based on the direction in which a property faces and when it was built.

It was clear the house and the land at Oakmead had been unappreciated for many years by previous owners and after Tony and Adele moved in, a series of events suggested Oakmead was not sitting comfortably on the land.

The building was desperately unhappy and fighting back at every stage of the process to turn it into a beloved family home. For this reason we elected to use Flying Stars Feng Shui which is a more in-depth and efficient way to understand and rebalance the building to nurture the people within it.

Tony and Adele recognised Oakmead needed an energetic boost to connect with their family and support their plans to create a beautiful home and transformative venue for their guests.

In Flying Stars Feng Shui we recognise that every building, from the largest luxury home to the most compact apartment, falls into one of four ‘types’

·      Good for People, Good for Money

·      Good for People, Bad for Money

·      Bad for People, Good for Money

·      Bad for People, Bad for Money

You probably have a view on which category your own home fits into!

With Flying Stars Feng Shui we can remedy any imbalance in the energy of a home by using the five elements of Fire, Earth, Water, Wood and Metal. With careful placement they reconnect the building with the land it sits on and minimize any negativity associated with ‘Bad for People’ or ‘Bad for Money’ locations.

This is often described as acupuncture for the home and can transform the lives of people who have been struggling ever since they moved into their present home without knowing why. Obstacles just seem to disappear!

Every building is individual and when Tony and Adele received their Flying Stars Feng Shui report the challenges they had been experiencing all began to make sense. Armed with their report, they set about installing the recommended remedies and immediately Oakmead started to respond.

There are feng shui remedies throughout the main house and the annexe, and in most cases you won’t even be aware of them – that’s deliberate. Feng Shui is used by celebrities and high net worth individuals, in the most luxurious hotels, for companies like Nike, Apple, Google and multinational banks including Chase Manhattan and HSBC. However, when you visit their home, office or campus you are unlikely to be aware of specific remedies (unless you know what you are looking for!)

Feng Shui is used across the globe with good reason, companies and individuals want to increase their success, wealth, reputation and health and they know by tapping into the positive energy of the land, they increase their opportunities to do so.

Ideally, all of the elements feel completely at one with the building. Where remedies are required, blending them with the décor and design is the easiest and most effective way to enhance the energy of the space.

In creating a relaxed, spacious and energetically balanced venue, Tony and Adele have increased the vibrancy and inspirational qualities of their home for all guests to enjoy – whether they spending time on one of the many beautiful retreats which take place at Oakmead, or getting together for precious time with friends and family.
